So Many Spots! So close!
Right
from the start, you're already sitting on the most consistent
break in Costa Rica, right here in Playa Grande. Playa Grande is the farthest west point on the
Pacific coast line of Costa Rica. Waves hit from different
directions, and Trade Winds come from the coast most of the
times. Playa Grande is an amazingly accessible break with world class breaks
to the north and south breaking all year round
depending on swell and wind conditions.
Potrero Grande
At this beach you will ride a wave known as Ollie's Point. It is a
fast and sometimes perfect wave that breaks to the right over a rocky sea
bottom. Access to the beach is only
possible by boat from Playa del Coco or Guajiniquil. If you wish
to camp on the beach, it is advised that you bring a complete camping set,
including food and water. There are few surfers on this beach.
Playa Naranjo (Witch's Rock)
one of the best breaks in the country, with very strong
off-shore winds from December to march. This wilderness point is
located in the national park of Santa Rosa. You need to be
prepared with anything you may need for camping as there are no
facilities.
We can book a boat trip for groups where you can surf both breaks in one
day! See the concierge for more information

This is a surfing safari!
Playa Negra
Playa Negra is about a 35 minute
drive to the south. This beach lies 10 minutes away from
Avellanas, and is one of the most popular spots among surfers.
There is a right-breaking point, with solid and perfect waves.
Low tides can get dangerous. Waves break in a variety of
sizes, with a great swell coming from the west. This wave breaks
over a reef with a small channel. Intermediate to advanced
surfers only. This spot can get crowded and there is good
snorkeling when the surf is flat.
Avellanas
There is a large beach and
many best quality beach breaks. There are two wave points: a
point with left-breaking waves, closer to the shore; and a
right-breaking wave spot called Little Hawaii where surfers can enjoy a
large and big solid, but not perfect wave.
